4. How much does a sweep run, and why do quotes vary between Escondido homes?

   The number is driven by what the chimney is more than anything else. A straightforward prefab flue in a hillside home is simpler than an older masonry chimney with an offset smoke chamber and decades of heavy use behind it. Heavy glazed creosote from real winter burning takes longer and sometimes requires more than a brush.
